Germany coach Joachim Löw is urged by Dietmar Hamann to allow Mats Hummels to return to the German team as Hanmann believes Germany might not win Euro 2020 without Hummels.
In an interview with Sportbuzzer, Hamann told that he doesn’t get why Hummels has not played for ‘Die Mannschaft’ since November 2018.
According to the former German international, there is no guarantee that Germany will win the European championship without Mats Hummels. It will be a surprise if Germany takes the title without Hummels, he said adding :
“If you look at international standards, our center-backs are all good Bundesliga players, but they still have to prove that they’re also good German internationals. [Matthias] Ginter, [Jonathan] Tah and [Niklas] Süle aren’t 19 or 20 anymore”.
Dietmar Hamann says, that there is not enough justification for Hummels to not play for the national team as he is the best German center-back. He encourages others to play better and players like Tah and Ginter need to play with Hummels in order to take the next step as Hummels is a leader. Without Hummels, Germany may lack leadership.
Hummels has scored five goals for Germany in 70 appearances that he has made.
